Ok well i realised i hadn't updated this in a while, a combination of working full-time, going out and not being arsed has lead to a big drop in the amount of time i spend on the net..not a bad thing really! so anyway....i've had a pretty good weekend really in general, I took it easy on friday night and stayed in on my own..recovering from thursday (squiddlys, rockcity, etc..)...then on saturday day time i headed into town to meet chris braddock..i hate town on saturday, totally full of absolute scum bags! infact come to think of it the city centre is full of scum bags all the time. After looking around the usual shops (selectadisk) we headed back to chris's... I'd planned to take it easy after thursday so i wasn't too certain i'd head out on saturday night, but while we were at chris's chris thrash turned up, so we got some beers and stuck on some classic pop-punk (felt like i was 16 again!)....bla bla bla....ended up in rockcity. Recently rockcity has been absolute shit! but on saturday it was ace...loads of people were out, everyone was on good form, met new people..and probably talked shit to plenty of people (apologies!)...but yeah i had a good night!
I'd planned to go to a car boot sale on sunday morning with chris, chris and lee...but i flaked out at 9 and unfortunatley i didn't make it...ended up having a roast dinner in town with braddock later on that day though. Got back home to my room and began to feel really depressed about shit, i won't waste anymore time writing about that though...

1. moved to nottingham, living with lee and gareth (couple of geordies) and craig (brummie)..having a great time! my room is ace, and the house is nice, apart from the living room which is a bit like a squat right now!
2. been job hunting, no luck so far i'm afraid! got a shitty temp job with Nottingham City Council...i'm an office slave, pretty boring really! don't even have the internet on my computer (what the fuck?)...well i can get on one site, nottingham council's website....spent 4 hours on that today! ha
3. had my graduation ceremony in loughborough, that was a good day! been to loughborough a few times since and got some major music finds which iwas pretty chuffed with, bit skint now though!
4. notts has been rad so far, had some funny nights out recently..last thursday and saturday were ace, from what i recall..speak easy/rockcity/liars club with chris (bloodychris) and chris (thrash) on thursday...then the rescue rooms on saturday, which was a strange night, but good fun.
5. might go to see birds of delay tonight at moog..noise?

ugh its funny isn't it that this time last week i felt mega posi about loads of things and the future, and how now, 7 days later..i feel really pretty down, infact wait its not funny..its actually really shit! god i dunno today has been one unremarkable day...woke up in nottingham feeling like absolute shit, i've continued to feel like this up until now, 10pm! went to loughborough to tidy my old house so i can get my deposit back, that was really shit scrubbing the kitchen floor and cleaning the oven...just what you need when you have a brutal hangover. i have to admit once i was leaving the house and saying my goodbyes to my uni mates i did feel a little emotional..end of an era and all that, didn't think it would bother me, but it did.
hmm yeah last night..mastodon were amazing they totally killed it..it was great to see laods of friendly faces from manchester representing, and the worcester guys! so yeah mastodon were cool, the club afterwards..meh, not so cool. had a run in with a bunch of scally cunts at the castle also before the gig, which culminatd in me taking a piece of wood to my head, pretty painful...pretty fucking annoying also!
so yeah i'm not going to see circle takes the square in worcester now either, i just felt in such a bad mood this afternoon that all i wanted was to get back to essex, and go to bed... |

ugh ok i feel i should update this thing again as its been totally ages! loads has happened since the last update, which was like 2 months ago..so that's not really surprising is it! but i'll skip out everything up until last friday..when i finished uni! huzzah! yep i had my final university exam last friday...my room has been packed and emptied, and i'm now back down in sunny essex for the next 2 weeks...someone asked me whether i feel sad that my time as a student has ended..to be honest i don't really care! i'm just glad to be out that tiny bedroom! haha
...so after the exam on friday i went straight to notts for circle takes the square...i had a great night! it was the first gig our collective thing put on really...and it was a cracker, totally rammed. Didn't really get to see aofr, trencher or murder of as i was sat at the door for most of them..getting pretty drunk and chatting to martin and michael. CTTS had a few sound problems at first, but then it all improved toward the end..had a bit of a mosh, great time! went to some dodgy club afterwards called "the edge" er...that was a bit rubbish, but i had an ok time..like i said by that time i was wasted.
Saturday morning went back to loughborough and packed my room, my mum and dad drove up and picked all my stuff up..then i went straight to worcester for fesseys birthday bash! met the snowmen again, which is always a pleasure..all the bands were good, shards of narsil were brutal...looking forward to seeing them again. met ginger dave from worcester at the gig...and we all went to experience "gonzos"...another bad rock club, spent most of the night dancing like a typical white guy would to hiphop...had an ace time though :) stayed at la'maison...nice place!
er sunday spent most of it hungover on the train back to essex! not much else to tell really. monday was a goodun...went into london met up with the collective-zine kru...went to ctts, can't remember much about the bands, had a great night though!Yesterday i went to the natural history museum with my friend emma, who i hadn't hung out with in ages! had a rad time...reminded me of my days as a cub scout..ah the memories.
tommorow i'm off to notts for a few days, mastodon tommorow night! whoop! dunno what on friday, ctts in worcester on saturday maybe? maybe not though..should be going to see sick terror (thrash) in london on sunday night, maybe meeting up with alice in the day for more museum fun before we head to the show! france in 2 weeks...bon oi! |

Yo, ok i'm in quite a good mood today..i think its because of the weather. anyway yes..the gig on monday was really great, lot's of friends from all over were there so that was nice...best band of the night were army of flying robots, although all the others were great also. Right now i have a killer urge to go out into the countryside..unfortunatly i'm stuck in the computer labs at uni, lame! back off down south on friday/saturday for 4-5 days, should be ok. anyway now for some stolen stuff:

i've chosen my mood tonight as "exanimate" can anyone tell me what this means?
right i havn't updated my journal in ages and ages, simply through total laziness. but anyway this last months been cool much of the same old really..i'm not gonna bother with writing about what i've done though. So this entry will start from yesterday..
- ok i'm in essex this week so yesterday i went into london and met up with jane who was cool enough to show me round the record shop of notting hill (the ghetto..haha) but yeah that was fun.
- We then headed to oxford street and then some pub via a cafe type place where i got a moldy croisson! in the pub we met up with the c-zine people..matt, the mad dog, pete, dan, briony..and their mental mate chris.
- anyway by the time we left there i was pretty pissed, so we then all went to see envy at the metro after that, which was pretty good. They had some really good parts, and i enjoyed it..i wasn't totally blown away..but they were good!
- one funny thing about the metro: i went to the toilet and there was this african chap in a tuxedo standing by the sink with loads of cans of Lynx deodrant and cheap aftershave lined up...understandably i was like "who the fuck is this, and whats going on?" anyway he had a little plate full of money..so i couldn't work out if i had to pay to have piss..so i gave him 20p anyway..and he sprayed me all over with lynx. how odd...
- mike from chester was at the gig which was cool, as i havn't seen him since the locust show in manchester..so after the gig jane then took mike (..aka Mparle) and me to the crobar, but by then i was totally knackered..so i sold out and went home..sorry for being a flake jane!!
right today has been insanely boring..tommorow should be the same. I was gonna go to the cinema tonight, but i had 3 glasses of wine at dinner which has made me feel quite pissed actually..so i can't drive there now (rubbish)
Off to see lightning bolt and wolves of greece on friday i hope! it should be good, and after listening to the Wolves 10" today i'm looking forward to this even more!! |

I havn't been updating this very much recently..i'm not sure why? anyway last night was amazing, so i went into nottingham to see wiliam elliot whitmore, and i figured i'd be taking it easy..maybe an orange juice or two if i was feeling crazy. But anyhow i went with chris and shaun, and chris introduced me to a beer called GBH (oi oi oi!) hmm actually it was called JHB but i kept asking for GBHs by mistake...anyway i ended up having a couple, which was enough to transform me from being stone sober into saying stuff like "lets do a round of tequilas..it'll be amazing"...i really hate tequila, i only do it for the lemon.
anyway enough of that..back to the gig, it was ace chris from reynolds thing was great i thought, it was just him using loads of pedals playing this spacey kind of rock..the last track was really nice...so William Elliot Whitmore was fucking great, i was really looking forward to the gig as i have his album which i thinks top stuff. I think his voice is great...even when he talks, it was like "hell yeah!"..hmm anyway he played, it was cool. He had members of Ten Grand as his backing band also, and some guy who we all thought was one of the Khayembi Communique, but he wasn't, thats what felix told everyone anyway ;)
anyway we took them all out afterwards to the "2am bar" which was cool..anyway thats that, it was a good night.
oh I'm thinking i might go travelling this summer for a bit with the money i've already saved up, not sure where yet..we shall see. |

tonight i have just watched tv and had two of those big hoegarden beers, it was amazing. hmm today i went for a short nap about 4 this afternoon...woke up at 8.30! crazy..i don't know what the hells up with me i keep falling a sleep this week..just two of the places i've fallen a sleep are at the bus stop?! and in the library ( a few times actually).
went to notts last night, had a good night, saw paper cut out and some other bands. paper cut out were good, couldn't hear the vocals but they were good fun..then went to rockcity (not sure why, its pretty grim, i think the ceiling was leeking piss) but anyway that was total no strings attached fun! hah..
i'm listening to the song waiferville by Joetfat right now, i need to see this band live...i reckon after a few beers these would be the perfect band to dance to, apparently they are great live! come to nottingham joeyfat!
what else? might go to see that music for one tommorow night at bukers hill, should be good, think chris is djing actually. anyway i'm off to bed..night night!

ok this is gonna be a short entry. the postman brought me the spirit of versaille discography this morning, its amazing! i've been in the labs at uni today, doing nothing, i had party of helicopters on my walkman and i kept on forgetting i was in public and singing out loud...i almost hit some of those high notes also, which got me some funny looks. I may go to the "rock night" at the uni tonight...for a laugh. anyway here are some of the pics from saturday night.

so it seems like university is stopping me from leading a life right now. I get up in the morning, get changed, go the library and sit there for about 8 hours, i read some boring books...usually once i'm bored of reading (after about 10 minutes normally) i go for a walk, around the library. I don't look for anything, i just walk up and down. So today on one of my walks i actually got lost in the library! because its for the whole uni it is crazy big, it's 5 floors, and each floor is huge, and its basically like a maze where everything looks the same. So anyway i was lost for 45 minutes! and while i was lost i went about 15 minutes without seeing another human person! scary stuff huh? i thought that was it....i thought my number was up.
so anyway i'm seriously bored and frustrated with uni, the course is so boring and it doesn't interest me in the slightest, it seems to have no relevance to my life right now. I seriously can't wait till may/june..things to look forward to: i'm moving to nottingham, the pine will be touring and circle takes the square are also touring. i think roadtrips are in order....
anyway the weekend looks like it could be fun..going JR Ewing in leeds on saturday with a few friends from manchester, then on sunday i'm off to some gig in manchester, which should be a goodun! gonna meet some of the "collective-zine crew"...i foresee lots of group photos.
...less than 24 hours till the photos of last saturday are up, should be interesting. |

well the last few days have been pretty busy..and quite fun actually! ok i'll start with friday night...on my entry for last saturday i spoke about the "friday night disco" at loughborough students union, well to quote from that entry i said "that'll probabley be the last time i go there ever"...ok unfortunately that was wrong, as i went there again last friday for my house mates birthday. NOTHING improved i'm afraid to say....it still stank of puke and there were still plenty of manpits. Infact i almost got dargged into one for that song "jump around"...but i put up a struggle, and managed to break free.
Saturday was valentines day (i got nothing by the way) and i'd arranged to go to the peak district with rob and sara. I was really looking forward to this..but unfortunately a combination of shit trains and crap weather put paid to those plans. So i ended up going to nottingham, met up with shaun and michael, and went to the castle. Wasn't as much as a Castle as i'd hoped, there was a serious lack of suits of armour and jousting..infact it was more like a big house.
anyway we all ended up at the rescue rooms saturday night, i'm not quite sure how but the night turned into a very heavy night. Alot happened, i can't be arsed to talk about it, i took a camera out so hopefully i'll get some pics up in the next few days. Oddest part of the night would be michael disappearing for 5 hours between 1am when he got chucked out to 6am when he turned up at his house, no idea were he was, he can't remember. how odd.
anyway spent yesterday in notts again, terribley hungover all day. went to see some bands last night..Trencher were great, Shooting Victor Francis were cool..craig was going ape shit, chariots were boring musically....but a good laugh to watch, it was like knucledust playing screamo..first time i've seen a singer move so comfortably from sobbing on the floor to to doing spinning kung-fu kicks and windmills. tuff.

well i've had maybe one of the most unmemorable days ever...went into uni first thing, i had to go to the library to pay a fine for some books that i never managed to read, they were one week late...£15 fine!! crazy, i was actually expecting worse as my housemate said they'd charge 50p for every hour it was late. thankfully that was bullshit.
hmmm feeling pretty shit right now to be honest, thinking about my dissertation is getting me seriously worried, i have two days solid work tomorrow and friday to get done..then another 6 weeks after that! i seriously can't wait to finish uni so much..I get my exam results on friday also...this will be really terrible. got depressed thinking about it all earlier, then i stuck on the pine "lead blocks for feet" lp..and rocked out around my room for a bit, and forget all my worries, huzzah!
what else? oh valentines day on saturday..all my housemates have their girlfriends visiting this weekend so i seriously need to get away from the house. I was thinking about heading into nottingham saturday maybe, not the shops though, but to the castle! exciting huh? hah well maybe not...but anyway i think i'm now on for a day out in the peak district, should be meeting up with some of the manchester gang (turnpikexgates and yeah_sara so far) to hang about in the middle of nowhere and talk about shit..i'm actually quite excited! wooo what an adventure! hah..it'll probabley end in me falling down a cliff and ending up on that 999 program. |

just got back from nottingham about 20 minutes ago, i'm feeling pretty shit. Me, Michael and Craig went to obsessions last night, it wasn't anywhere near as good as i remember. There was a serious lack of extremo girls out, i guess that american band "every time i die" had them all on the tour bus. Anyway craig and michael seemed quite hammered, so did i really. Spoke to some typical looking hardcore girl from leeds, with a big tattoo of stars on her back, for some reason me and michael told her michael was the bassist in orchid (only for the european tour obvioulsy) and the singer of spirit of versaille, unfortunately this didn't impress her much as she'd not heard of them...probabley for the best really! Hmm would've liked to have gone to explosions in the sky, but it had sold out. seen them before though, so i'm not that bothered.
don't think i can be arsed with going out now till the gig on sunday: Trencher, Shooting Victot Francis and Chariots. nice. Might go to the peak district on saturday daytime actually. |

went out to loughborough students union last night with my house mates, to the FND (Friday Night Disco?)..this was the first time I'd been out to the union in about 2 years! and now i remember why...so many bad knob heads out! i mean they are so annoying..there were your general mixture of guys who look like they're off hollyoaks, guys dressed like alfie moon (off eastenders), guys dressed like they should be on The Salon! you'll notice i havn't mentioned girls yet...that's because there were hardly any! and the few i did see were virtually getting nailed on the dancefloor by some david beckham wannabe! anyway plenty of man pits took place...expecially during guns n roses..
incase you havn't had the misfortune in seeing one of these, here is a manpit:
these are generally made up of 4-5 idiots, in rugby shirts. They can generally be found stripping their team mates, or getting all their cocks out on the dancefloor and rubbing up againts each other, yet strangely enough they can also usually be heard spouting some homophobic rant.
hmmm i didn't really even drink anything, and only danced to one song. that'll probabey be the last time i go there ever...huzzah!! :) heh..got a text from sara last night saying how amazing the gig in worcester was. wish i'd gone there now, would have enjoyed watching the snowman, i hear it was emotional stuff! right now i'm off into town, gonna walk about maybe buy some stuff. exciting! |

went out in nottingham last night, had a cool time. Went to the speak easy first with craig and few other people, £1 a pint...huzzah!! then off to rockcity..kept on drinking those awful red square "sorted" drinks, you know the one's that taste and look like some kind of washing up liquid? anyway it was cool, Chris B turned up which was cool..he'd been to see entomed earlier in the basement, i hear they were amazing. highlight of the night would be lewk revealing from his pocket a nice block of camamber cheese (classy cheese) which he'd got from entomed's fridge, and then taking me back stage to get some more, unfortunately when i went all that was left was half a block of red leicester..and some bananas...but i still had away with them! hmmm not much else to say really, there was a girl last night who i really should've spoken to but i didn't...nothing new there then! maybe next time.
oh yeah they played the prodigy last night which was great, reminded me of being back home in essex and going to people's 15th birthday parties and getting pissed in the car park on 3 cans of heineken i stole from the fridge..ah good old days! also i remember i really loved that Kelis song last night..the milkshake one...best song of the year! hah |

what a crap day. so i start the day by getting up and riding to uni in the pouring rain for a 9 o'clock lecture, so i get there and i'm the only person in the room. I stand about for 10 maybe 15 minutes, then i decide this lecture obvioulsy isn't happening...so i visit the lecturer and he's like "oh yeah i e-mailed everyone..didn't you get it?"...no i didn't! why? because for some reason i'm the only person not on his stupid mailing list! ah well
anyway i get home and hang around till lunch..then i went into town to get some paper to write the tracklisting for emma's mixtape, and also get a haircut. I generally find if i go to the cheapest most shit barbers i generally get the best style cut in my opinion..i mean those expensive trendy hair dressers are intent on giving you a mullet of some sort no matter what you ask for! just like back home in essex my local hairdresser gives me a "french crop 4 back and sides faded in" regardless of whether i asked for it..last summer i grew my hair quite long, it was over my ears and the fringe was in my eyes, so i went there and asked for them to "tidy it up"....anyway the knucklehead gives me a skin head!
apart from that i spent the majority of the day sleeping and struggling to begin my final year project at uni. I watched hollyoaks actually....i just wish dan's sister (the one who lost her memory, and was married to that toby murderer) would die! she's so annoying..that story line is getting me pissed off..hmmm gonna watch UK-Gold now and hopefully Jonathan Creek is on, such a good proramme..god i've become such a PARTY MONSTER! haha |

damn i'm annoyed, i have this bastard wisdom tooth in my mouth, which has started causing me serious pain! so last week i went to see the dentist, who happened to be the most perfect women i've ever seen, back home in billericay. Anyway she said that the tooth is fucked, and basically needs removing, and i need some bone removed in my mouth also..which invloves operations in hospital. So i have to go on the NHS, which is a pain as they'll not be able to sort me out for months....so basically i'm screwed. hence my mood being irritated.
anyway well i havn't been upto anything this last week...i've been ill so i spent most of it in bed with a sore throat and a runny nose..so that was SHIT. totally ruined my plans for visiting museums and galleries in london. Last night i was thinking about going to some club called "obsessions" in nottingham if michael and chris and that were going, but i don't think they were. I went last week and had the funniest night in ages. its a long story so i won't go into all the details...all i'll say is me and michael met the biggest murder of fan ever. literally! perhaps i'll go to nottingham thursday, explosions in the sky are playing next monday at the rescue rooms so that is all go!
hmmm not much else i can be bothered to say. actually i've started to read some work on social theory by Theodor Adorno. I read a few essays of his for university stuff last semester, and i found them actually quite interesting, although they were a little hard going for me (i kept refering to the dictionary to find out some words! haha). I may go to the libarey tonight to get a book of his essays on the culture industry.....basically he suggests that "capitalism feeds people with the products of a 'culture industry' - the opposite of 'true' art - to keep them passively satisfied and politically apathetic".....these aren't my words by the way. Anyway i look forward to reading more. |
